Our Board

Our Board of Directors are elected individuals who are responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of Yallambee. Our Directors have a diverse range of skills and experience with expertise in corporate business, finance, medical and nursing, legal and community care. The Board are unpaid volunteers who meet monthly and also sit on individual sub committees within our organisation. The Board are aware of the increasing expectations and needs of our aged community and are entrusted with the role of governing and leading Yallambee into the future.

Mr Peter Wallace


Peter has an extensive background in executive management, consulting and project management in public acute health facilities. Previous roles include Director Corporate Services at Latrobe Regional Hospital, Chief Executive Officer at Maroondah Hospital and Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Box Hill Hospital. He has also completed consulting and project work at Mercy Health, Royal Children’s Hospital, Barwon Health, Dental Services Victoria and the Department of Health (Vic). Peter also has additional board experience having served as a Non-Executive Director at Latrobe Community Health Service for ten years.

Dr Roger Fitzgerald

Deputy Chairman


Dr Fitzgerald is a well known General Practitioner within Traralgon having lived and worked here since 1983. Roger works with the Breed Street Clinic and in this capacity has provided medical services to Margery Cole Residential Aged Care for the duration he’s been in Traralgon.
Roger was a Director of Deakin Medical Group from 1984 to 2017, he is also a Director of Breed Street Nominees.

Mr Victor de Beer

Diploma in Business Management

Victor is a Gippsland local. He has a strong commitment to social justice and has served the community in this field as a public servant for over 20 years.
Victor also serves as a board member of the Victorian Public Tenant’s Association and was previous a board member of Gippsland Heritage Park.

Mr Colin Gooding


DIP Management
Cert IV in Business (Estate Agency Practice)
Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors

Colin has lived and worked within the Traralgon region for the majority of his life. He is a prominent local Licensed Estate Agent and continues to practice in this capacity as well as a director of his local branch.
Colin is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the quality of life needed for our aged members living in our region and brings a different perspective to the board.

Mrs Angela Jacob


B App Sci (Pthy)
Post Grad Cert (Continence & Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation)

Angela has been a Gippsland resident for over 20 years. Angela completed a Post Graduate qualification and commenced employment with Monash Health as a Senior Clinician Women’s Health & Continence Physiotherapist
before returning to West Gippsland Healthcare Group as the Physiotherapy Manager in 2013. After completing additional study, Angela was appointed in 2015 as General Manager Medical Services for Latrobe Regional Hospital and was recently appointed into the role of General Manager Planning & Redevelopment.

Mrs Claire Kent

Member of the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation

Claire has lived and worked in Traralgon for over 30 years as a Registered Nurse. She currently holds the position of General Manager of Critical Services at Latrobe Regional Hospital (LRH).

Claire has held a number of nurse management and leadership positions at LRH over the years and completed additional post graduate qualification in Health Management in 2014. This is Claire’s first Board Director position.

Ms Marion Kilvert

Marion worked as a Registered Nurse in the health system for approximately 50 years, however is now retired. During her nursing career Marion held roles in senior management and clinical care throughout various healthcare facilities in Victoria and in doing so gained significant experience in administration, management and clinical care. Marion has a wealth of knowledge to bring to the Board and has done so for over 25 years of voluntary service.

Ms Gabrielle (Gay) Michau

Admitted to the VIC Bar 1988

Gay has been a Latrobe Valley local since 1987 and a Director with Yallambee since 2000. After moving to the Latrobe Valley from Queensland, Gay commenced practicing as a Barrister and Solicitor and remained in practice until her retirement in 2007. Prior to this move Gay practiced as a clinical psychologist for five years at Wolston Park Psychiatric Hospital, Queensland, and subsequently in primarily criminal law for a further seven years before moving to Victoria.


Mr John Warren

BSc Optometry
Grad Dip Ocular Therapeutics

With a keen interest in supporting our local community, Gay also served on the Quantam Community Care/Quantam Support Services Board for 25 years.

John has been a resident of the Latrobe Valley since establishing his optometry business in Traralgon in 1980. After 38 years in operation, John sold the thriving practice.  He has since been appointed to sit on Optometry Board of Australia AHPRA panels and continues to provide supervision to final year Optometry students in their clinical university training.
Outside of his professional pursuits, John is also a key figure locally having been a member of the Traralgon Apex club for 13 years and gaining a life membership from the Latrobe Valley Aero Club.
